THE ASSEMBLY REMAINS COMMITTED TO DEVELOPMENT”-MCE HIGHLIGHTS KEY PROJECTS

The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has intensified infrastructure development across the municipality, with major investments in transportation, drainage and public lighting aimed at improving mobility, safety and flood control.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anwel Ahmed Sadat delivering his sessional address on Thursday, June 11, said the Assembly has made significant progress in executing development projects across key sectors.

A major highlight of the address was the completion of the municipality-wide street lighting project. Hon. Sadat told the General Assembly that the Assembly has successfully undertaken the “supply and installation of streetlights on principal streets within the municipality”, describing the project as a critical intervention to improve road visibility and public security at night. To ensure the sustainability of the lighting system, he added that the Assembly also procured illumination accessories.

The MCE stressed that transportation infrastructure and environmental resilience remained central to the Assembly’s development agenda. He announced the completion of dredging and desilting of waterways within the municipality, explaining that the exercise was undertaken to improve drainage systems and protect roads and communities from flooding.

Beyond transportation-related projects, the Assembly also reported progress in water, education, health and sanitation infrastructure. Notable among them is the rehabilitation of a six-unit classroom block at Kotei R/C Basic School, while construction of a kindergarten project at Weweso, 3-unit classroom block at Emena are ongoing as well as an ICT laboratory completed at Deduako M/A Junior High School.

The Assembly further disclosed that construction had begun on a CHPS compound at Deduako to improve healthcare delivery in the area. On sanitation, the Assembly completed a skip pad at Deduako and procured tricycles and refuse containers to strengthen waste management operations.

Hon. Sadat assured the general assembly that the Assembly would continue to pursue infrastructure projects that directly improve livelihoods and support economic activity.
