MCE, RESIDENTS JOIN CLEAN-UP EXERCISE AT TECH JUNCTION

The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly on Saturday, May 9, 2026, embarked on a clean-up exercise at Tech Junction as part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation in the municipality.

The exercise, which formed part of the government’s monthly National Sanitation Day initiative, aimed to promote cleanliness and public health. Participants undertook a range of activities including sweeping the principal streets, desilting and cleaning gutters, weeding overgrown areas, as well as gathering and disposing of refuse from the community.

Volunteers were provided with protective equipment such as gloves, boots, and nose masks to ensure safety during the exercise. “The provision of these items was aimed at minimizing health risks and enabling participants to carry out their tasks effectively” the Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Simon Agangiba said.

The clean-up exercise recorded active participation from key stakeholders, including the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Anwel Sadat Ahmed, Assembly Members, officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and residents of the area.

The initiative reflects the Assembly’s continued commitment to promoting a clean and healthy environment, while encouraging community involvement in sanitation-related activities. It also underscores the importance of collective responsibility in addressing sanitation challenges and preventing the outbreak of diseases within the municipality.
