OFORIKROM MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY EXTENDS AID TO FIRE AND FLOOD VICTIMS

The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Municipal National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), stepped up its relief efforts yesterday, November 6, by providing essential supplies to victims of the recent Anloga fire outbreak and flooding incidents in Kentinkrono and Anwomaso.

A range of relief items, including mattresses, rice, cooking oil, maize, roofing sheets, clothing, buckets, mosquito nets, and more, were distributed to the affected individuals and families. The presentation of these supplies took place at the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly’s forecourt, where local leaders and officials gathered to address the pressing needs of the victims.

Hon. Abraham Antwi, the Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive, emphasized the importance of disaster prevention and urged all Ghanaians to take proactive measures to avert avoidable catastrophes. He stressed that the items offered were intended to ease the current predicament of the affected individuals and families. He also expressed hope for additional support from the national office of NADMO in the future.

Hon. Richard Nyarko, the Presiding Member, assured the beneficiaries of the Assembly’s commitment to assisting them during these challenging times. He recognized the need for a united effort to help those in distress and reaffirmed the Assembly’s dedication to this cause.

Mr. Emmanuel Opoku, the Municipal NADMO Director, underscored the importance of disaster preparedness, prediction, and warning systems. He shared that the directorate had been actively engaged in awareness creation, education, and sensitization programs to empower local communities to mitigate the disruptive impacts of natural disasters.

In response to the timely support received, some of the affected individuals expressed their gratitude to the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly. They pledged to make the best use of the relief items provided to help them recover and rebuild their lives after the recent fire and flooding incidents.
