Residents, staff and assembly members of the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly on Saturday, June 21, undertook a major clean-up exercise along the principal stretch from Tech Junction to Bomso (Top High).
The clean-up, held in solidarity with the National Sanitation Day program spearheaded by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, witnessed a strong turnout of participants from various sectors, including Assembly staff, elected members, and members of the general public.
Demonstrating hands-on leadership, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Charles Attah-Mensah, and the Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Simon Agangiba, led the operation which focused on clearing drains, collecting refuse, and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of one of the municipality’s busiest corridors.
Mr. Attah-Mensah commended all stakeholders for their commitment to the “clean city agenda”. He added that clean environments do not happen by chance; however, a shared responsibility and a result of collective efforts.
Mr. Agangiba added that beyond the one-day effort, sustained public education and enforcement of sanitation by-laws remain crucial. He also urged residents to see this as more than a routine exercise.
