The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has distributed 500 bags of fertilizers to 500 farmers in the municipality to support agricultural production and improve farm productivity.
The fertilizer distribution, which happened on Wednesday, August 26, is expected to enable the beneficiary farmers to improve soil fertility and support the healthy growth of their crops, thereby contributing to increased farm output. The intervention is also expected to help farmers reduce some of the financial pressures associated with purchasing agricultural inputs, particularly as the cost of production continues to be a major consideration for smallholder farmers.
The fertilizers were presented to the beneficiaries by the Municipal Planning Officer, Mr. Derrick Obeng and the Municipal Engineer, Mr. Edward Anyam on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Anwel Sadat Ahmed.
The Municipal Director of Agriculture, Madam Line Adutwumwaa Gyamfi encouraged the farmers to apply the fertilizers effectively to their farms to enhance crop production and productivity. She advised the farmers to avoid indiscriminate application of the fertilizer and encouraged them to adopt good farming practices to complement the support provided by the Assembly.
