OFORIKROM, VRA STRENGTHEN DEVELOPMENT TIES

Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anwel Sadat Ahmed, has stepped up efforts to build stronger institutional partnerships with a working visit to the Volta River Authority (VRA) facility at Anwomaso on Friday, January 16.

The visit formed part of the MCE’s broader engagement with major public and private institutions within the municipality to better understand their operations, challenges and contributions to local development.

Accompanied by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Kwasi Mintah Owusu, and Heads of Department from the Assembly, Hon. Sadat Ahmed toured the VRA facilities to acquaint themselves with ongoing interventions and infrastructure under the Authority’s management.

VRA officials briefed the team on the Authority’s mandate, long-term vision and strategic interventions aimed at ensuring reliable power generation and distribution. Discussions also highlighted the socio-economic benefits the VRA provides to the municipality, including employment opportunities, support for local businesses and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Hon. Sadat commended the VRA for its critical role in Ghana’s energy sector and its contribution to the development of the Oforikrom Municipality. He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between the Assembly and the Authority to address shared concerns, particularly in land use management, environmental protection, infrastructure development and community relations.

VRA management, in response, pledged to maintain strong engagement with the Assembly on operational matters and community development efforts.
