The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, commemorated Menstrual Hygiene Day with educational events at Bomso and Kentinkrono M/A Junior High Schools to raise awareness among adolescent girls about proper menstrual hygiene.
The event, held under the theme “Together for a Period Friendly World,” was supported by the Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anwel Sadat Ahmed.
The programme was facilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development (DSWCD) in collaboration with the Municipal Health and the Education Directorate.
Miss Rosemond kpegah Ag. HoD (DSWCD) led other officers to conduct demonstrations on the proper use of sanitary pads and educated the students on maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation.
She emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene education in empowering young girls with the knowledge and confidence to manage their health.
Miss Rosemond Kpegah on behalf of her department (DSWCD) expressed appreciation to the Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank, the Oforikrom Furniture Makers Association, Boss Bee Enterprise, Estomens Pharmacy limited and individuals for their massive support to advance the welfare of girls in the municipality.
