The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Oforikrom, Hon. Anwel Ahmed Sadat, on Sunday, November 16, 2025, held community engagement meetings in two selected communities as part of a broader effort to promote participatory governance, transparency, and stronger collaboration between the Assembly and residents.
The meetings, which took place at the Afasani Mosque in Dagombaline and the Deduako Methodist Church, brought community members face-to-face with the MCE in an open forum designed to encourage dialogue on key development issues affecting the municipality.
Addressing residents at both locations, Hon. Ahmed Sadat explained that the community engagement initiative is in line with government policy to strengthen local governance across the country. According to him, the Assembly acknowledges the importance of listening to residents, sharing updates on ongoing projects, and creating space for community members to make suggestions on how best to accelerate development.
The MCE highlighted the crucial role of community participation in shaping sustainable development outcomes. He noted that the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly is committed to building stronger relationships with residents by making its operations more open and citizen-centered. “These engagements give us an opportunity to hear from you directly,” he remarked.
Residents welcomed the opportunity to speak directly with the MCE, raising various concerns and offering suggestions ranging from the need for more social amenities to calls for improved waste management, enhanced security presence, and support for youth-oriented skills development programmes. Many community members also expressed appreciation for the Assembly’s efforts to engage them more regularly.
Officers from the Oforikrom Fire Service Station, led by the District Commander DO II Anthony Appiah and the Oforikrom National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Director, Mr. William Ayine, briefed residents on fire safety and disaster prevention measures as the municipality approaches the dry season. They urged community members to adopt safe practices and remain vigilant to reduce the risk of fires and other emergencies.
