HUNDREDS GATHER IN KUMASI FOR 2025 NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER AND THANKSGIVING

Religious leaders, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), and hundreds of Ghanaians converged at the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC) Auditorium in Ayigya today to mark the “National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving”,  a spiritual event dedicated to seeking divine direction for Ghana’s progress.

Held under the theme “Reflect, Reset and Renew for National Prosperity,” the solemn ceremony brought together Clergy, Christian leaders, government officials, and worshippers from across the Ashanti Region. The occasion provided a national platform for intercession, moral reflection, and a renewed commitment to a faith-driven transformation agenda.

In his welcome address, Apostle Yaw Adjei-Kwarteng, Chairman of the Kumasi Christian Council (KCCC) Steering Committee, called for unity in prayer, stressing the importance of spiritual renewal in fostering national development. He described the event as a sacred moment for Ghanaians to reconnect with divine purpose and seek God’s guidance for the nation's welfare.

Delivering the keynote exhortation, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi, Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Anokye, encouraged citizens to pursue moral integrity and divine wisdom in both private and public life. He underscored that sustainable development must be anchored in righteousness and truth.

Key highlights of the event included fervent intercessory prayers. Rt. Rev. Prof. Osei Safo Kantanka, former Kumasi Diocesan Methodist Bishop, led a Prayer for Reflection, while Apostle Dr. Bright K. Sosu, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), led a solemn prayer for the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary, focusing on divine guidance and realigned priorities in national governance.

Rev. Augustine Kofi Bempah, Ashanti West Regional Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, offered a heartfelt Prayer for Spiritual Renewal and National Peace, urging unity among Ghanaians amid local and global challenges.

Representing the government, Ashanti Regional Minister Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene reaffirmed the state's commitment to working closely with faith-based organizations to promote peace, development, and good governance.

Participating assemblies included the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, and Suame Municipal Assembly.

The 2025 National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving stood as a powerful reminder of the enduring influence of faith in Ghana’s national life, offering a collective moment for spiritual reflection, national healing, and hopeful renewal.
