The newly sworn- in Chief Executive for the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, Hon. Abraham Kwame Antwi on Friday, October 15, 2021 presented 22 motorbikes to Assembly Members to help facilitate movement to their electoral areas.
This forms part of government's support to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA's) as they play significant roles in the development of the economy.
Speaking at the short presentation ceremony, Hon. Kwame Antwi noted that the motorbikes are in fulfillment of the President’s agenda to enhance development in the various MMDA’s. He was thankful to government for constantly resourcing MMDA's to deliver and called on Assembly members to make the most efficient use of the bikes.
He further called on Hon. Members to abide by all road regulations bearing in mind the number of times motor accidents occur as a result of over speeding and careless driving.
Hon. Frank Frimpong, the Presiding Member (PM) who received the bikes on behalf of the Assembly Members, thanked the MCE describing the presentation as timely. He was particularly grateful to government for assisting assembly members in this regard.
He added that, the motor bikes would go a long way to help them effectively discharge their duty of maintaining close contact with their electoral areas and take part in communal and developmental activities among others.
He further assured the MCE that they would take good care of the motorbikes to prolong its life span.
