The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly members on Tuesday 28th September 2021 confirmed Mr. Abraham Kwame Antwi, the Presidents nominee as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
Mr. Kwame Antwi secured 18 votes out of the 21 total valid votes cast representing 85.7%
The Municipal Electoral Officer, Ms Matilda and her team who supervised and conducted the voting exercise, spelt out the guidelines for the voting process to ensure a smooth, transparent, free and fair.
Mr. Kwame Antwi, who was the former NPP chairman for the Oforikrom Constituency in a speech prior to his confirmation thanked members for the support afforded him during the start of the nomination process by the government and noted that his vision is to ensure the uttermost development of Oforikrom Municipality. He added that his vision is to among other things ensure that each electoral area has a project to his name to serve as a mark for posterity.
The newly confirmed MCE, Hon. Abraham Antwi in his victory speech stated that “every day must bring an improvement, today must be better than yesterday and tomorrow must be better than today” whilst thanking members for accepting him and further stated that a better Oforikrom could only be achieved if the assembly became citizens but not just spectators as clearly echoed by the president.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah represented by the Presidents nominee for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Mr. Samuel Pyne and former NPP Chairman, Ashanti was grateful to the assembly members for reposing confidence in the president’s nominee, this he believed is a sign of good things to happen in the municipality. He further urged the assembly members and the entire staff to support the MCE to help bring his good visions to bear.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Charles Mensah expressed his gratitude and satisfaction in the whole confirmation process. He was optimistic that the smooth and peaceful confirmation of the MCE showed the assembly’s readiness to move the municipality forward in terms of development.
