OfMA plants trees to green the municipality

As part of the nation’s response to the global climate change challenges, the President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo launched the Green Ghana Programme aimed at planting 20 million trees across the country.

To actualize this goal, a tree planting exercise was carried out nationwide on 10th June 2022 under the theme “let’s go planting trees”

The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly was not left out in this very important exercise.  Weweso and Emena MA Basic Schools were selected for the official launch in the municipality.

The MCE Hon. Abraham Antwi was appreciative of the numbers that joined in the launch of the programme and encouraged the public to make it a life style to plant trees in their backyard and available spaces to help in the fight of climate change as well as green and beautify the municipality.

He reiterated the essence of the exercise as among others to create an enhanced national awareness on the necessity for collective action towards restoration of degraded landscape in the country and most importantly inculcate in the youth the value of planting and nurturing.

Later the MMCE was joined by the Municipal Coordinating Director and the Director of Education to plant some trees in the schools. Other Officers took turns to plants some trees after which came the rains to literally water the planted trees.

The programme was graced by the Presiding Member, Hon. Frank Frimpong, the Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Charles Attah-Mensah, the Director of Education Mrs. Dorothy Baidoo, the Agric Director, Mr. Samuel Tekpor, Assembly members and Departmental Heads.
