OfMA organize maiden teachers' prize awards

The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly (OfMA) in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), Oforikrom Directorate has organise its maiden edition of Teacher Prize Awards on Friday, March 17, 2023 at KNUST SHS Assembly Hall.

The programme held on the theme: ‘Motivating the Teacher, The Engine for Educational Transformation’, sought to recognize the contribution of gallant teachers towards the attainment of quality education in the municipality.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Charles Atta Mensah in an address expressed worry in the dwindling academic performance of schools in the municipality and thus urged the teachers to do more. He pledged the assembly’s commitment to support the Education Directorate in improving the Academic performance of the students.

Prof. Nana Mensah, who was the guest speaker, acknowledged the remarkable contribution of teachers in shaping great and future leaders. He noted that Education is the most powerful tool to national development and this could be achieved if the teacher is well motivated. He thus congratulated organizers of the programme instituting such a programme to encourage teachers to do moreand encouraged teachers to work hard since their hard work is being recognized.

Awards presented at the ceremony were 43 inch LED TV, 32 inch LED TV, Table Top fridges, a refrigerator and citations.

Awards were given to Best BECE Student 2021, Best WASSCE student 2022, and Best Performing SHS Teacher. The Overall Best Teacher award was received by Madam Sarah Tiokor Akwetteh Qwarshie, who walked away with a citation and a refrigerator.

In attendance were the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Abraham Antwi, , Oduom Chief, Nana Osei Amankwah III, Deduako Chief, Nana Osei Agyemang, Ashanti Regional Education Director, Dr Williams Amankwah, the Municipal Education Director, Mrs Dorothy, Assembly Members and some schools in the municipal.
