The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly launched the ‘30 days to census night countdown’ prior to the Population and Housing Census (PHC) scheduled to take place from the 27th June to 11th July 2021.
The event which took place at the Oforikrom Taxi Rank on Friday, 28th May, 2021 after the nationwide launch by H.E the President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo marked a critical milestone in the 100 days to census night implementation. It marked the start of a massive publicity campaign to sensitize the public on the census exercise.
The event thus unveiled posters, flyers and jingles and the theme ‘You Count Get Counted’ as the publicity materials that the Ghana Statistical Services had provided as part of the publicity campaign strategy.
Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Gloria Temmah Gambrah said the exercise was of great importance in development planning and equitable distribution of resources to especially newly created district like Oforikrom.
Hon. Gambrah added the exercise would also help in understanding the demography of the population and will attract numerous economic and social benefits as well.
She indicated that it was thus, important for all to avail themselves to be counted to ensure accurate and consistent data to guide the government and policy makers to meet the needs of the population.
