MCE COMMISSIONS STEEL FOOTBRIDGE AT SUSANKYI

The Municipal Chief Executive of Oforikrom, Hon. Abraham Antwi has commissioned a newly constructed steel footbridge at Susankyi in the Oforikrom Municipal yesterday, March 8, 2023.

The footbridge became very necessary when one resident lost her life crossing the Susan River after a heavy rainfall last two years. The 1.No 45 m footbridge which cost an amount of GH¢465,354.60, which was awarded to the Fenabam Construction Company on January 27, 2023, saw its completion and handing over to the assembly yesterday, March 7, 2023.

The MCE, addressing the Chiefs and people of Susankyi, said the footbridge was one of the many projects to be constructed by the Assembly and gave the assurance that the Assembly would also work on the three motorable bridges on the Susan River.

He asserted that the community should have the spirit of maintenance culture, -“I will urge the residents and the opinion leaders to exercise maintenance culture to see this project last longer. Report any fault you see to the appropriate quarters for immediate actions.” He noted. 

The Assembly Member for the Susankyi Electoral Area, Mr. Solomon Kumi used the opportunity to thank the MCE and the Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Marfo, for their swift response to the need of his constituents. He noted that the construction of the footbridge was going to ease worries of the residents especially during this raining season.

He assured that he is going to do all he can to ensure the footbridge is properly maintained and also urged the residents to follow suit as the project has been put up for their benefit. “We will make sure to maintain the footbridge from time to time. Within every year, we are going to paint it and perform the necessary things to ensure it lasts for us.” He said.

The residents also expressed their joy and the timely commissioning of the footbridge and look forward to the completion of the motorable bridge.

In attendance were the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Charles Attah Mensah, the Municipal Engineer, Madam Gloria Asiedu, Staff of the Assembly, Assembly Members, Chiefs and residents of the community.
