Officials of the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly (OfMA) have on Friday, 10th March, 2023 started a demolishing exercise to ward off structures which had been identified to be unsafe cc

The move is to help avert any possible crowd choking and also pave way for the beautification of the area.

Ahead of the exercise, the encroachers were given enough notification to evacuate the site by a declaration by the Municipal Chief Executive and KNUST authorities on Friday March 10, 2023,

The seven hour operation which was spearheaded by the Municipal Works Director, Mr. Richard Agyemang and assisted by the KNUST Police Station and OfMA Task Force saw the demolishing of structures that have illegally been placed on the pave ways and under the overhead footbridge.

Affected persons by the demolition exercise were seen scavenging for their belongings from the Task Force.

Speaking to the people, Mr. Agyemang mentioned that the exercise would last for a week and further appealed to residents not to see the exercise as depriving people of their properties but a means by the Assembly to ensure that people abide by the building regulations.
