The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly led by the Budget Department met with its stakeholders to discuss the 2023 fee-fixing resolution on 16th August, 2022 at the Oforikrom Episcopal Methodist Church.
The MCE, Hon. Abraham Antwi who chaired the programme called on the stakeholders as partners of development to fulfil their tax obligations to the assembly to enable the assembly develop the municipality to the benefit of all.
The meeting was in accordance with guidelines for payment of fees for the provision of services and facilities, and granting of licenses and permits for the Municipal Assembly.
In a power point presentation, Mr. Eric Adomako, the Municipal Budget Analyst took participants through the fee-fixing rates since 2018 and noted that, the assembly since its inception has not increased its basic rates and this coupled with the folding up of some businesses due to the effects of the covid-19 pandemic has resulted in the reduction in the percentage of revenue collected annually.
He thus, made a passionate appeal to the stakeholders to perform their duties by paying their taxes regularly and to the right sources.
In an open forum participants were given the opportunity to comment on the 2023 fee fixing resolution.
In attendance were, Traditional Authorities, Hon. Assembly Members, Traders, Opinion Leaders, Zonal council and Representatives of Businesses.
